Hi all. There's sure a lot to be said that aren't said, in the annoyingly complex way that things tend to be. Where do we start then. In all seriousity, I think the world is screwed up, at any rate, bad enough for us to realise that altruism sometimes has to be the only way we're gonna live a good, or at least fulfilling life.
I wish I could count the number of times I've fallen short of whatever standards I've set for myself (yes, I do set standards for myself). Fact remains, I can't, we all can't. I can't remember the number of times I've wished I hadn't been such a pompous ass, or wish I'd hadn't made some flippantly base comment just a few minutes ago.
I think we all: yup, all of us - that's me, that's you, and that's the rest of the world - have room for change. We aren't bloody perfect, not in the least, but at least I'm trying. It's hard, but I'm trying - because it's what I believe to be the right thing to do. I'd hate to quote gratituously, but here's one that we all might find pertinent. "You live and learn. At any rate, you live." - Douglas Adams. I don't think most of us have the choice to live or not, but we all have a choice to learn while we're at it. They tell us to watch and learn - watch the way we grit out teeth, watch the way we wince, watch the way we all react (or if you would, overreact), and watch the way our lives are played out among other people. I'm guessing we could all afford to try harder...
I hope I can salvage some amount of physics from the recesses of your minds: remember Newton's third law. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.
Anyway, lighten up, let's not put a damper on things (this is, after all, my first full lenght post here...), nor get ourselves in a moral debate of any sort. Things could be worse, and regardless of the amount of cliches I can use, life, mercilessly, goes on.
